Our Ethos

At Lagos Preparatory School, we pride ourselves on our ethos and atmosphere and the manner in which pupils, parents, staff and Directors work in partnership to seek to offer the very highest quality British preparatory education. The highly skilled and experienced team of staff are supported by a variety of training and development programmes that enable us to meet the academic potential and abilities of our pupils and provide each individual with an educational experience that is enjoyable, stimulating, challenging and appropriate.

Our overriding priority is to provide an environment in which all pupils are happy and can enjoy being part of our school community. We want each pupil to develop self-respect and confidence and to value others. We strive to work with our parents to encourage and motivate each pupil to achieve the highest standards they can and to have their efforts acknowledged and praised. In addition to our commitment to raising standards in our normal day provision we also continue to develop our before and after school learning clubs and activities.
As full members of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (UK), the Council of British International schools and the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA), we are currently the most highly accredited British Prep School in Africa.

Our academic rigour speaks for itself. For the third successive year the school’s Y6 S.A.Ts results have been outstanding. Almost half of the candidates achieved a level 5 the maximum grade possible, while the remainder achieved a level 4 (the expected grading for the majority of this age group).
It is clear that we strive for academic excellence, ensuring each child attain its maximum potential which has been unlocked by quality first teaching. We also pay equal attention to the emotional well being of all our children.  In 2010 we became the world’s first international school to achieve  the Every Child Matters (ECM) standards award in recognition of our caring family style ethos and approach to pupils’ learning.
