Headteachers message- Friday 20TH JANUARY 2012

Surely the happiest of New Year’s to all of you! I have seen over the first couple of days that parents and children are as happy and excited about our ‘new’ school as indeed I am – proud too. I am most grateful as are our Directors for all the compliments passed about the school site thus far and the wider accomplishments in what still is less than ten years.

I thought that on Thursday morning receiving all vehicles by 8.08 am was a major feat – there was also minimal sounding of horns on Glover Road! However this improved by two minutes today! I have though just a few points to reinforce that relate to systems and procedures as you might expect.  I would ask that vehicles are only alighted once under the Administrative Centre’s canopy.  Under no circumstances should children be dropped off outside number 38, or walked from the car to the correct drop off area  – this practice will slow down the forward movement of vehicles off Glover Road and will increase the likelihood of injuries. Drivers should not re-enter the site by circling to collect a nanny or parent – rather wait outside.  At collection time classrooms on upper floors should only be accessed via stairs in the respective teaching blocks. No access should be made via the Administrative Centre stairs. And finally to remind all visitors, irrespective of whom you wish to see (except teachers at the end of the day of course) that you should report to the school’s main reception area on the first floor of the Administration Centre.

Meanwhile work continues on the school hall, preparing for our astro surfaced football pitch, the tennis court and swimming pool and a dedicated play area with climbing frames, swings and so on. Directors and I do appreciate your patience during this period and please be assured work is continuing apace on all of these matters literally as I type!

I do wish you a joyous weekend and I look forward to the children’s return on Monday for their first full week of the Lent term.
